3D modelling is a highly impressive and cost effective alternative to traditional methods of pencil and brush illustration and photography.
We use the same powerful software as used by many Hollywood studios for their blockbuster films. So, with a little LaserLines imagination, we can transform any idea or storyboard into a stunning visual or 3D animation, guaranteed to impress.
Our extensive knowledge of and passion for 3D computer illustration means we can create stunning images and help you to get the best out of them. Before starting a project we talk to you about it, go away and think about it and then let you know how 3D illustration can make your product or service really jump out.
Our highly skilled services come at a surprisingly reasonable price because we have always kept our overheads as low as we can.

We use a process called 3D modelling. First, we create a virtual wireframe of a three dimensional object using a 3D modelling software package, (usually Cinema 4D). Once we have created the 3D model, we then create a 2D still or a series of stills for an animation. This process is called “3D rendering”. All the 3D images you see on our site are 3D wireframes that have been rendered to produce the final image.

Creating the 3D wireframe is only the first stage in generating a realistic 3D illustration. The next stage is to texture and light the 3D object. A texture is an image or pattern which then gets wrapped around the wireframe model like a plastic shrink wrap. We can set numerous properties for each texture such as colour and surface appearance (whether it’s rough or smooth, reflective or matt, dull or glowing and so on).

The next stage is the lighting. The 3D software is like a virtual studio where we can position our 3D object in the scene, set the surroundings and light it to get the effect. For example, to mimic distant sun light we’d use distant blue and yellow lights to simulate the sun and reflection of the blue sky. If we want more focus, in a close-up product shot for instance, we can create a more vivid effect with spot lights.

Camera Angles
Finally, we set the camera angle by moving the virtual camera around just like a real camera. We've also got control over settings such as focal length and depth of field, so we can choose how far away we want to focus, how much we want to blur the background and whether we want a wide angled shot with lots of perspective or a flatter less dramatic angle.

3D modelling is very versatile and allows us to make images in all kinds of sizes. We can produce low resolution (800x600 pixel or lower) images for use on the web, high resolution images suitable for printing full page (5000x3000 pixel) right up to super high resolution images (20,000 x 15,000 pixel or higher) for bill-board advertising. As well as still images, we can also produce animations from our 3D scenes which can be adapted for the web or output at high quality either SD or HD for DVD, Blu-Ray etc.
