The 3D Process

Modelling, Textures & Lighting
When creating high quality 3D animation, all elements and objects need to be completely designed prior to the animation phase. They need to be modelled, the surfaces and textures then need to be designed, and that will have an effect on how each element interacts with light. Each material will absorb, reflect and cast shadows differently, which can lead to complex objects requiring countless materials in order to achieve an accurate 3D representation.

Animation
It comes as a surprise to many that animation doesn’t take place from the get-go. However, once the correct preparation has been completed, the real fun begins. Every moving part in a 3D animation needs to be manipulated accurately. This can be done via keyframe animation or by programming a set path.

Rendering
The final part of the 3D animation process is the rendering phase, where raw files are converted into finished animations. Requiring a tremendous amount of computer processing power, using the right renderer for the right task is key to achieving the perfect finished product.
